Founder of Mike's Barber Shop – Eugene, Oregon
I began cutting hair in 1973, starting my career as a hair stylist and hair dresser. For the first 15 years, I focused on styling and precision work, building the foundation that shaped the rest of my career.
In 1989, I opened the original Mike's Barber Shop. In the early 2000s, I established the County Farm Road location, where the shop has served the Eugene community for more than two decades.
Altogether, I have been cutting hair for over 53 years.
I am a proud Vietnam Veteran. Service, discipline, and commitment have shaped both my life and my work.
Today, I am mostly retired. I do not keep regular shop hours, but I still meet long-time customers for a haircut and conversation. Many relationships built over decades continue that way.
Outside the barber chair, I am a runner, an artist, and a fiddle player. I value staying active, learning, and continuing to create. If there is a theme to my life, it is steady work, curiosity, and craftsmanship.
Hair cutting has always been about more than the haircut. It is about trust, continuity, and connection.
